Where to go dancing in Chicago

Dance Dance Party Party is awesome. It’s a full hour of dancing and nothing else. No talking, no judging, no drinks, no late-night hours. Perfect for finding your groove! Gals only—sorry guys.
Zumba is a great way to practice body awareness and moving to rhythm, especially if Latin rhythms appeal. Zumba's philosophy emphasizes fun and expression--no one cares if you get the steps or not.
Late night dancing: Danny's Tavern has great dancing most nights. The Hideout has superfun dance parties about twice a month on Saturdays. Late Bar has great dance parties by era/ genre.
This Week in Chicago is absolutely the best calendar for swing, blues, and honkytonk music and dancing.
Chicago Barn Dance has all the listings for contra dancing (line, square, and reel dancing). These guided dances will help you build rhythm and stamina and get you used to dancing with and around others. Plus they is F U N. Truth!
Salsa and other Latin dance lessons are offered by many excellent and friendly places, including Latin Rhythms, Dance Connection, and Latin Street Dancing. For a night out, we recommend Tuesdays at Alhambra or Sundays at Cubby Bear.
